A new and rather unique journey awaits participants this weekend at Tanjong Pagar Railway Station, close to three years following the departure of the last train when the currently unused National Monument plays host to STORIES: A Theatrical Pop Up Restaurant.
For the first-of-its-kind event, which takes place from 26 to 29 June 2014, My Private Chef, the organiser, promises to take diners on an unforgettable culinary journey, in a meeting of flavours of the East and West. Mixed in is an immersive theatrical experience in which the history of the grand old station will be brought to life by a cast of storytellers, led by Train Station Master John Smith, complemented by old Singapore tunes.
The event, supported by the Singapore Tourism Board (STB)’s Kickstart Fund, will see 100 diners for weekend lunch and 150 diners for daily dinner. Priced at $188 to $248, the event has already been sold out.
The menu for the event, created by Chef Stephan Zoisl, takes into account the station’s history of the national monument and embeds its key milestones in each course. A second chapter to STORIES is also being planned for a location which will be announced in due course.
