The second stretch of the Rail Corridor affected by the Murnane Pipeline Project, from Commonwealth Ave southwards to Tanjong Pagar Railway Station will be closed to the public from 19 September 2016. The stretch will remain closed until the entire project is completed and is scheduled to reopen only in the fourth quarter of 2019.
Work has already commenced in the first stretch to be closed. Sections of the corridor are being closed progressively this year. The last stretch to be affected, running from Jalan Anak Bukit to Holland Road , will close later this year. Construction of the Circle Line MRT, scheduled to commence next year, will also also see Tanjong Pagar Railway Station closed from 2017 to at least 2025.
